About Swat Kats
Swat Kats hit the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of licensed games based on the animated series, landing right in the middle of the 16-bit era when side-scrolling action titles were common. You take control of the two vigilante pilots, Chance "T-Bone" Furlong and Jake "Razor" Clawson, from the show.
You pilot their jet, the Turbokat, through horizontally scrolling stages, shooting down enemy aircraft and ground targets. The main goal is to stop the villainous Dark Kat and his army of mutants across various missions. Key mechanics include switching between two different weapon systems on the fly and collecting power-ups to enhance your firepower. The game moves at a fast pace, and the difficulty can be steep, especially during the boss encounters. Navigating the tight corridors while dodging a constant barrage of enemy fire makes for a challenging, arcade-style experience.
