About Super Widget (europe)
Super Widget came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of colorful, side scrolling platformers that filled the SNES library, a direct follow up to the NES game. The game has a bright, cartoon look that was common for the time.
You control a round, alien like creature named Widget. Your goal is to stop the evil scientist from destroying Earth's environment. You move screen by screen through levels, jumping on platforms and defeating enemies by bouncing on them. A key mechanic is finding and rescuing your five R.A.I.N.B.O.W. helpers; each one you collect grants Widget a new special ability, like a temporary shield or a powerful attack. The game can be quite difficult, with some precise platforming required and enemies that respawn quickly. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to manage your powers while navigating tricky jumps.
