Super Wagyan Land is one of those SNES platformers that somehow flew under the radar, which is a shame because it's got this weird, goofy charm that sticks with you. You play as Wagyan, a little dinosaur dude who moves with this bouncy, almost slippery momentum—took me a level or two to get used to it, but once it clicks, you're hopping between floating islands and dodging these oddly shaped enemies that look like rejected Kirby designs.

The colors pop in that classic 16-bit way, and the music’s got this upbeat, slightly off-kilter vibe that somehow fits perfectly. It’s not as tight as Mario, but there’s something about the way Wagyan flails his tiny arms when he jumps that makes failing feel fun. Later levels throw in some light puzzle stuff, like blocks you gotta rearrange, but mostly it’s just pure, uncomplicated platforming with a dinosaur who probably shouldn’t be this endearing.

If you dig obscure SNES games with personality, this one’s a solid time. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
