Super Valis 4 is one of those SNES action-platformers that looks way cooler than it actually plays. You jump, slash, and collect power-ups as a sword-wielding hero, but the controls feel just a little too stiff—like your character’s boots are glued to the ground. The anime-style cutscenes are nice, though, and the music’s got that classic early ‘90s synth vibe.
Honestly, it’s not terrible, but you’ll probably get frustrated by the awkward hit detection before you even reach the second stage. Still, if you’re a masochist for retro jank or just really into obscure Valis games, it might be worth a quick playthrough.
