Super Ultra Baseball 2 is one of those hidden SNES gems that never made it outside Japan, which is a shame because it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. The pixel art is crisp, the animations are smooth, and the gameplay nails that arcade-y baseball feel—big hits feel satisfying, and the fielding controls don’t fight you.

First thing you’ll notice? The pitcher-batter duel actually matters here. Fastballs zip, curves bend, and if you time it just right, that satisfying *crack* sends the ball flying. Fielding’s simple but not brainless—you’ve gotta actually position yourself instead of just mashing buttons. And yeah, it’s in Japanese, but the menus are easy enough to figure out after a couple of swings.

It’s not MLB-level realism, but for a 16-bit baseball game, it’s got way more charm than most. Definitely worth a few innings if you’re into retro sports titles.
