About Super Turrican 2
Super Turrican 2 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995, developed by Factor 5. It arrived late in the SNES lifecycle, a time when developers were really pushing the hardware to its limits. You could see that effort in the detailed backgrounds and the sheer amount of action happening on screen at once.
You control a heavily armed soldier navigating large, side scrolling levels filled with alien creatures and robotic enemies. Your main goal is to blast through these hostile environments, destroying everything in your path to reach the end of each stage. Your character has a few key abilities; you can fire a standard laser in eight directions, but the more unique tools are a grappling beam that lets you swing across gaps and a freeze beam that temporarily immobilizes foes. The game is fast and often difficult, throwing waves of enemies and intricate platforming sections at you without much respite. It feels like a constant, explosive test of your reflexes and aim.
