Super Turrican 2 is one of those SNES games that still makes you go, "How the hell did they pull this off?" The sheer amount of tech crammed into this cartridge is wild—explosions shake the screen, enemies scream in digitized agony, and the soundtrack hits hard enough to rattle your speakers (especially if you had Dolby Surround back in the day).
You start off blasting through alien hordes with this ridiculous spread-shot gun, and within minutes, you're dodging spinning saw blades or riding a jet-powered surfboard through a collapsing tunnel. Mode 7 gets abused in the best way possible—boss fights feel massive, and some stages twist the screen like a pretzel. Just don't get too distracted by the spectacle, or you'll walk right into a spike pit.
It's the kind of game that makes you appreciate how far developers pushed the SNES before 3D took over.
