Super Turrican 2 is one of those SNES games that still makes you go, "How did they pull this off?" The sheer amount of tech crammed into it—voice samples, Mode 7 explosions, even Dolby Surround—feels borderline ridiculous for a 16-bit cartridge. You start blasting through alien hordes, and within minutes, the screen’s filled with parallax layers, rotating bosses, and sound effects that somehow don’t turn the whole thing into a slideshow.
It’s not just a flex, though. The controls are tight, the weapons feel chunky (that flamethrower is stupidly satisfying), and the levels throw just enough chaos at you to keep it exciting without feeling cheap. If you’ve ever wondered what the SNES could really do when pushed, this is a solid example. Also, that title screen voice yelling "SUPER TURRICAN" never gets old.
