Super Troll Islands is one of those weird, charming SNES platformers that flew under the radar. You pick from four trolls—each with their own little quirks—and basically just... walk around cleaning up evil mist by stepping on it. Sounds simple, but the levels get surprisingly tricky with hidden paths and enemies popping out of nowhere.
At first I thought it was gonna be a mindless stomp-fest, but there’s actually some strategy in choosing which troll to use for certain areas. The purple one’s floaty jump saved me more times than I’d like to admit. Graphics are bright and cartoony, though the controls take a minute to get used to—expect a few cheap deaths early on.
It’s got that early ‘90s platformer jank, but in a way that makes it weirdly endearing. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re into oddball SNES titles.
