About Super Tetris 3 (japan)
Super Tetris 3 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed by TOSE. It was one of several puzzle games on the platform that tried to build on the original Tetris formula, offering more variety for players who had already mastered the basics.
You control the falling tetrominoes, rotating and shifting them to create solid horizontal lines that then disappear. The main objective is to last as long as possible against an ever increasing drop speed. Signature mechanics include the Magicaliss mode, where you clear blocks by matching colors in a different way, and the Famliss mode, which is a two player cooperative puzzle. The pacing starts deceptively slow but the difficulty ramps up steadily, demanding quicker decisions. It feels like a thoughtful, sometimes frantic, race against the stack.
