Super Strike Eagle on SNES is Microprose’s take on air combat, and it’s way more intense than you’d expect from a 16-bit game. You’re basically thrown into the cockpit of an F-15, juggling radar locks, missile warnings, and fuel levels while trying not to crash into the ground. The controls take a minute to get used to—half the time I was just trying to remember which button did what—but once it clicks, dodging SAMs and lining up perfect shots feels surprisingly satisfying.
It’s got that classic Microprose vibe where everything’s a little overwhelming at first, but in a good way. The missions start simple (bomb this, shoot that) before ramping up into full-on chaos with enemy fighters swarming you from all sides. And yeah, it’s Europe-only, so if you’re playing this on an NTSC system, you’d better have a workaround. Still, for an SNES flight sim, it holds up better than most.
