Super Smash T on SNES is one of those games that just feels right the second you pick up the controller. You’ve got Mario throwing fireballs, Link swinging his sword like he’s late for a dungeon crawl, and Pikachu zapping everyone—it’s chaos, but the good kind. The stages are wild too—one minute you’re fighting on a floating platform, the next you’re dodging hazards on some retro Nintendo-themed map.
At first, I kept button-mashing like an idiot, but after a few matches, you start figuring out which characters actually suit you. (Turns out Samus’ charge shot is way more satisfying than I expected.) And if you’ve got friends around? Forget about it. The couch multiplayer here is pure, unfiltered yelling-at-the-screen energy. Even the single-player mode throws some legit curveballs at you—some of those AI opponents fight dirty.
It’s aged surprisingly well for an SNES game. The sprites have charm, the music slaps, and somehow, knocking someone off-screen with a well-timed Falcon Punch never gets old.
