Super Smash TV on SNES is pure, unapologetic chaos—like someone took an '80s action movie and turned it into a twin-stick shooter before twin-stick shooters were even a thing. You’re dumped into this ridiculous game show arena where the host screams cheesy one-liners while robots, mutants, and guys with chainsaws swarm you from all sides. The first time I played, I died in about 10 seconds because I didn’t realize you could shoot diagonally. (Pro tip: You can.)
The controls feel a little stiff at first—this was 1991, after all—but once you get the hang of it, mowing down waves of enemies while dodging spinning blades and collecting random prizes (toasters, VCRs, actual stacks of cash) becomes weirdly hypnotic. The bosses are gloriously over-the-top, like a giant floating head that spits fireballs. It’s dumb, loud, and exactly what you’d expect from an arcade port of its time. If you can forgive the occasional cheap death, it’s a blast with a friend.
