Super Shadow of the Beast on SNES is one of those moody, atmospheric platformers that feels like you're moving through a dark fantasy painting. You play as Aarbron, a guy who got turned into this hulking beast-warrior after being kidnapped as a kid—not exactly a cheerful backstory.
The first thing you'll notice is how weirdly heavy the controls feel, like your character's trudging through mud. It takes some getting used to, but it kinda fits the whole "cursed monster" vibe. You're mostly slashing through creepy creatures and jumping across jagged cliffs, with this eerie soundtrack that sounds like it's whispering doom at you.
Fair warning: it's tough. Like, "throw-your-controller" tough in some spots. But there's something weirdly satisfying about slowly unraveling Aarbron's messed-up story while surviving the nightmare landscapes. Just don't expect a happy ending.
