About Super R-type (europe)
Irem released Super R-Type for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. It was an early title for the console, bringing the company's arcade style of shooting action into homes. This game arrived when players were getting used to the SNES and its capabilities.
You pilot the R-9 spacecraft through horizontally scrolling stages filled with alien forces. Your main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the large boss waiting at the end. A key mechanic is the Force, a detachable pod that can be shot forward to attack or kept close for defense; positioning it correctly is essential. You also collect power-ups to upgrade your main shot and the Force's capabilities, but losing a life resets your weapon to its basic state.
