About Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu Remix (japan)
Super Puyo Puyo Tsuu Remix came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, developed by Compile. It was part of a wave of puzzle games on the SNES that refined the competitive mechanics popularized by titles like Tetris and Panel de Pon. This release was an enhanced version of Puyo Puyo Tsuu, adding more characters and modes to the established formula.
You control the falling pairs of colored blobs, called Puyo, rotating and placing them to create chains of four or more of the same color. The main objective is to clear your own screen while sending nuisance Puyo to your opponent's field to overwhelm them. Key mechanics include the offset rule, which lets you counter and send back garbage if you complete a chain while it's already falling, and the all clear bonus, which rewards you for emptying your entire board. The game's pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly against skilled opponents or in later stages. It feels tense and satisfying when you set off a large chain that turns the match in your favor.
