About Super Putty (europe)
Super Putty came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by System 3. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers that tried something a little different with the genre's formula, focusing on a unique, stretchy protagonist instead of a running and jumping mascot.
You control a blue blob of putty, navigating single screen rooms filled with enemies and obstacles. Your main goal is to rescue your captured putty friends from each level. Your stretchy body is your main tool; you can latch onto ceilings and walls to pull yourself across gaps, and you can inflate yourself to bounce higher or absorb enemy attacks. The game requires careful timing as you figure out how to use your elasticity to solve environmental puzzles and avoid hazards. The pacing is methodical, more about planning your stretches than quick reflexes, and some later stages get quite tricky. It feels like solving a tactile puzzle with a character made of rubber.
