Super Pinball - Behind The Mask is one of those SNES games that somehow makes a tiny CRT TV feel like a full-blown arcade cabinet. You get three tables—each with its own weird theme, like a creepy carnival or some kind of ancient temple—and they all have that satisfying, weighty ball physics the 16-bit era did surprisingly well.
The carnival table’s my favorite—it’s got this weird laughing clown target that creeps me out every time, but hitting it just right sends the ball ricocheting into a hidden bonus lane. Took me way too long to figure out the temple table’s trick shots, though. The music’s got that classic SNES synth vibe, all bouncy and slightly chaotic, which somehow fits perfectly when you’re desperately nudging the table to keep the ball alive.
It’s not the deepest pinball sim out there, but for a quick session between RPG marathons, it nails that “one more try” feeling.
