Super Nichibutsu Mahjong 2 is one of those classic Japanese mahjong sims that feels like it was made for late-night sessions. The pixel art is clean, the tile sounds are satisfyingly clicky, and there's just enough AI challenge to keep you on your toes without feeling unfair.
What I like about this one is how straightforward it is—no gimmicks, just solid riichi mahjong with a few CPU opponents who actually bluff sometimes. The menus are all in Japanese, but if you know the basics of the game, you can navigate by feel after a few rounds. That 90s SNES vibe really comes through in the little details, like the way the background subtly shifts colors between hands.
It's not the flashiest mahjong game out there, but it's got that addictive "one more round" quality to it. Perfect for when you want something tactical but not too stressful.
