Super Momotarou Dentetsu III is one of those classic Japanese board game hybrids that somehow makes buying virtual train stations weirdly addictive. You roll dice, move around a map of Japan, and try to buy up properties while sabotaging other players—kind of like Monopoly, but with way more charm and little anime characters.
The first time I played, I had no idea what I was doing (thanks, Japanese text), but the bright colors and chaotic energy pulled me in anyway. You’ll see trains zipping around, rivals suddenly landing on your most expensive station, and these weird little events that either shower you in cash or leave you broke. It’s simple once you get the hang of it, but good luck stopping after one round.
If you’ve ever lost hours to board games or just love retro SNES quirkiness, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t blame me when you’re muttering at your screen because someone stole your Osaka line.
