Super Momotarou Dentetsu DX is one of those classic Japanese board games that never made it overseas, which is a shame because it’s weirdly addictive. You’re basically rolling dice, buying up train routes, and trying to bankrupt your friends—think Monopoly, but with way more anime charm and random events that either save you or ruin your whole strategy.
The board’s packed with little details—train stations, quirky NPCs, and even mini-games that pop up when you land on certain spots. First time I played, I had no idea what I was doing (thanks, Japanese text), but after a few rounds, the chaos starts making sense. The music’s cheery, the art’s bright, and losing all your money to a surprise typhoon feels oddly fun.
If you’re into retro Japanese exclusives, this one’s a hidden gem. Just don’t blame me when you’re three hours deep yelling at a virtual dice roll.
