Super Mario World Ultimate Mayhem 5 is one of those wild ROM hacks that takes the original game and cranks everything up to 11. You still get the classic SMW feel—Yoshi’s there, the cape feather still makes you feel invincible—but the levels? Way more chaotic. Expect brutal platforming, weird enemy placements, and some genuinely creative (or sadistic) level design.

First few minutes in, you’ll probably get wrecked by something ridiculous, like a piranha plant popping up where it absolutely shouldn’t. But that’s part of the charm—it’s for players who’ve memorized the vanilla game and want a fresh challenge. The music’s still a bop, though.
