Super Mario World Extra Demo 1 is one of those weird little ROM hacks that changes just enough to feel fresh without losing what makes the original so great. You still get the same tight controls and colorful levels, but there are new enemy placements, slightly tweaked physics, and a few surprises—like finding a random Piranha Plant where a Goomba should be.

At first, it feels familiar, but then you notice the little differences—maybe a hidden block in a spot you swore was empty before. It’s not a full overhaul, more like someone remixed your favorite song and snuck in a couple of new beats. If you’ve played the original to death, this might be the jolt you need to make Yoshi’s Island feel new again.
