Super Mario World - VIP and Wall Mix 5 is one of those wild ROM hacks that takes the classic SNES game and cranks up the chaos. You still get the same smooth platforming, but the levels are remixed—some are way harder, some just weird in the best way. I remember jumping into the first level and immediately running into a wall of enemies where there shouldn’t be. Took me a few tries to adjust.

If you’ve played the original to death, this keeps it fresh without feeling like a totally different game. Some of the new power-ups are ridiculous (in a good way), and the hidden exits? Good luck finding them without a guide. It’s the kind of hack that makes you appreciate how tight the original level design was—until you get crushed by a surprise Thwomp.

Definitely worth a shot if you’re looking for a new challenge or just want to see Mario in some bizarre new setups.
