Super Mario World - EVW is one of those SNES hacks that actually feels like a proper expansion to the original. You still get Yoshi, the cape feather, and all the classic platforming, but the levels are completely redesigned—some are brutal, others have these clever little secrets tucked away. First time I played, I got stuck on this one ghost house for way too long before realizing the exit was hidden behind a fake wall (classic Mario troll move).

If you’ve memorized every pixel of the original, this keeps that same feel but throws in enough twists to make it fresh. Also, the music’s remixed in spots, and some of the sprite edits are surprisingly polished. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you—some jumps require pixel-perfect timing.

Definitely one of the better SMW romhacks out there if you’re craving more after beating the original a dozen times.
