Super Mario The Robot is one of those classic Flash games that’s simple but weirdly satisfying. You control this little robot version of Mario—he’s got a blaster instead of fireballs, which feels oddly cool. The levels are short but packed with obstacles, and those golden coins are just begging to be grabbed, even if they don’t do much besides bump up your score.

At first, I kept running into enemies because I forgot the space bar was for shooting, not jumping. Took me a second to adjust, but once you get the hang of it, blasting through monsters feels pretty good. Just watch out for the spikes—they’re instant death, and you only get three lives. The later levels get sneaky with enemy placement, so you’ll want to take it slow unless you’re into restarting.

It’s not deep, but it’s a solid time-killer if you’re into retro platformers with a twist.
