Super Mario RPG Expansion (v1.1) is a modified version of the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game developed by Square and published by Nintendo. It arrived late in the SNES lifecycle, blending the familiar Mushroom Kingdom with the deeper, turn based role playing structure that Square was known for at the time.
You control Mario, and later his party members, navigating an overworld screen by screen to find the scattered Star Pieces. The turn based battles require timed button presses to boost your attacks or block incoming damage, adding a layer of active participation. You explore towns, talk to characters for side quests, and jump on enemies in the field to get a first strike.
