Super Mario Rpg - The Bob-omb Mafia Game

Super Mario RPG - The Bob-omb Mafia is one of those weird, charming SNES gems that feels like a fever dream in the best way. You start off with Mario doing his usual hero thing, but then suddenly you're tangled up in some shady Bob-omb gang drama—like, since when do these little walking bombs have a full-on mafia? The combat's got that classic turn-based RPG feel, but with timed button presses to boost attacks, which keeps battles from feeling too slow. And the writing? Surprisingly funny, with weird little jokes and fourth-wall nudges that still hold up.
First 10 minutes in, you're already jumping on Goombas, dodging exploding henchmen, and meeting characters who absolutely should not exist in a Mario game (looking at you, crime-lord Bob-omb with a tiny fedora). The sprite work is gorgeous, too—everything’s got this chunky, colorful vibe that makes the world feel alive. It’s short for an RPG, but that just means no filler. If you missed this one back in the day, it’s worth digging up.
