Super Mario Rpg - Bomb-omb Mafia - The 5 Shells Game

Super Mario RPG’s "Bomb-omb Mafia - The 5 Shells" is one of those weird little side quests that makes the game so charming. You’re just wandering around, probably trying to figure out where to go next, when suddenly you stumble into this whole underground crime syndicate run by—yep—Bomb-ombs in suits. They’ve got this whole "five shells" thing going on, like some kind of mobster ritual, and Mario gets dragged into it. Classic RPG nonsense, but in the best way.
The dialogue is ridiculous (in a good way), and the whole thing feels like a fever dream even by Mario standards. If you’ve played the original, you know the vibe—turn-based combat with timed hits, weird NPCs, and that SNES-era humor that somehow still lands. This side quest isn’t super long, but it’s one of those moments that sticks with you. Just don’t expect the Bomb-ombs to play fair.
