Super Mario Kart Alternate Tracks 2 is one of those sneaky-good ROM hacks for the SNES that actually feels like a proper expansion. It takes the original game’s tight controls and throws in a bunch of fresh tracks—some are remixed versions of classics, others are completely new layouts that play with elevation and shortcuts in ways the vanilla game never did.

First race in, you’ll notice the tracks have this weirdly polished feel, like they could’ve been cut from the original.
