Super Mario Dream World V0 is one of those weird, unofficial Mario hacks for SNES that somehow feels both familiar and totally off the rails. You start off in a Mushroom Kingdom that looks right—until you notice the level designs are twisted, with pipes leading to bizarre places and enemies popping up where they shouldn't. The physics are just slightly off, too, like Mario's jump arc is a little floatier than you remember.

It's got that classic 16-bit charm, but the levels throw curveballs—like sudden bottomless pits or power-ups that don't behave the way you'd expect. Not gonna lie, some of the platforming feels janky, but there's something weirdly addictive about seeing how far the creator warped the original game. If you've burned through too many vanilla Mario ROMs, this might scratch that "wait, what just happened?" itch.

Just don't expect Nintendo polish—this is clearly a passion project with all the rough edges that come with it.
