Super Mario - Colors Game

Super Mario - Colors on SNES is one of those weird, unofficial ROM hacks that somehow feels both familiar and totally fresh. It's classic Mario—running, jumping, stomping goombas—but everything's been recolored in this trippy, almost neon palette. The first time I booted it up, I thought my TV was glitching until I realized the sky was bright purple and the pipes were lime green.
It plays just like the original, but the weird color swaps actually make some jumps trickier because your brain keeps expecting normal Mario logic. That first pit in 1-1? Yeah, I faceplanted because the brown platforms blended into the background. You get used to it, though, and after a while, the chaos starts to feel intentional—like someone dropped Mario into a Lisa Frank notebook.
Definitely more fun with friends laughing at how bizarre it looks.
