Super Mahjong Taikai is one of those classic Japanese mahjong games that feels like it was made for late-night sessions. The tiles have that satisfying SNES-era chunky pixel art, and the AI opponents actually put up a decent fight—none of that "let the player win" nonsense. At first, the menus are all in Japanese, but if you’ve played any mahjong before, you’ll figure it out fast.
What I love is how snappy it feels. No long animations, just quick tile draws and discards. The music’s got this chill, almost jazzy vibe that somehow makes losing less painful. And yeah, you will lose a few rounds—the CPU doesn’t mess around. If you’re into retro mahjong, this one’s a solid pick.
