Super Mad Champ came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, published by Givro. It was part of that later wave of SNES games, a motorcycle racing title that actually reuses some character sprites and other assets from the beat 'em up game Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun: Kunio-tachi no Banka. This gives it a familiar, slightly rough-around-the-edges look that fits right in with other mid-90s Japanese releases.

You control one of several characters on a motorcycle, racing through side-scrolling tracks filled with jumps, obstacles, and rival riders. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. The gameplay involves a lot of boosting and using a punch attack to shove other racers off the road. The tracks are single-screen affairs that scroll automatically, and you have to manage your speed carefully to avoid crashing on the many sharp turns and jumps. It is a difficult game; the computer opponents are aggressive, and the courses require precise timing. The feeling of just barely staying on your bike while trading blows at high speed is chaotic and demanding.
