Ever heard of Super Kyuukyoku Harikiri Stadium 2? It’s this weirdly intense SNES baseball game from Japan that never made it overseas. The mechanics are pretty standard for a 90s baseball sim—pitch, swing, steal bases—but the vibe is totally different. The crowd animations are wild, the players have these exaggerated reactions, and the announcer sounds like he’s losing his mind after every play.
First time I booted it up, I had no idea what half the menus said, but the gameplay’s intuitive enough that you’ll figure it out after a few innings. The fielding feels a little stiff compared to modern games, but there’s something charming about how over-the-top everything is. If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a fun deep cut to mess around with.
