About Super Jangou (japan)
Super Jangou came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, published by Nichibutsu. It was part of that wave of early SNES titles that experimented with different genres, a side-scrolling action game that didn't get much attention outside of Japan.
You control a young man exploring a large, interconnected castle. Your main goal is to find and defeat the evil master lurking within. You move from one screen to the next, using a sword to fight off monsters and a bow for hitting distant enemies. The game involves a lot of backtracking through similar-looking hallways to find specific keys and items that unlock new areas. The pacing is slow and deliberate, with a high difficulty that punishes mistakes quickly. It feels like a methodical, sometimes frustrating crawl through a hostile, maze-like fortress.
