Super High Impact on SNES is basically NFL Blitz before NFL Blitz existed—over-the-top, fast-paced arcade football where the tackles feel more like car crashes than sports plays. It’s the sequel to High Impact Football, but everything’s dialed up: bigger hits, faster plays, and way more chaos. You’ll pick a team (I always went with the bruisers—who needs finesse when you can just steamroll people?), then jump straight into games where the rules feel more like suggestions. First down? More like first chance to absolutely level the receiver.
The controls are simple enough that you’ll be pulling off spin moves and brutal stiff-arms within minutes, but there’s a weirdly satisfying rhythm to it once you get the timing down. And yeah, the graphics are pure 16-bit, but there’s something about the way players ragdoll after a big hit that never gets old. If you miss the days when football games cared more about fun than realism, this one’s a time capsule worth dusting off.
