About Super H.q. - Criminal Chaser (japan)
Super H.Q. - Criminal Chaser came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, a release from Taito. It was part of that later wave of SNES games, arriving when developers were pushing the hardware in different directions, often with more experimental ideas.
You control a police officer navigating a multi-story building screen by screen, hunting for a hidden criminal. Your main objective is to search each room thoroughly, which involves opening doors, moving furniture, and inspecting suspicious objects to uncover clues and items. Two key mechanics define the action: a time limit that pressures you to be efficient, and a first-person perspective that switches to a side-view combat scene whenever you encounter a suspect. These fights are simple but tense, requiring quick reflexes to subdue the criminal before they escape or defeat you. The pacing is deliberate, as careful exploration is rewarded, but the difficulty can spike during the unscripted confrontations. Playing it feels like a tense, methodical hunt where a single wrong turn can waste precious minutes.
