About Super Goal 1
Super Goal 1 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by TOSE. It was part of that wave of early 90s platformers that filled the console's library, a straightforward soccer game trying to capture the sport in 16-bit form.
You control a team of players on a side-scrolling field, moving up and down the pitch to pass the ball and take shots on goal. The main objective is to outscore your opponent within the match time. Signature mechanics include performing sliding tackles to dispossess the other team and executing high jumps to head the ball during aerial duels. The pacing is quick, with matches that can feel frantic as you switch between players to defend and mount attacks. It feels like a simplified, arcade-style interpretation of soccer where constant movement is key.
