Man, Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is brutal—in that classic SNES way where you die a lot but somehow keep coming back. You play as Arthur, this knight in clanky armor who moves like he’s wading through molasses, and the second you start, zombies and flying demons come at you from all directions. The first level tricks you into thinking you’ve got this… until you realize you don’t.

The graphics still hold up—spooky castles, foggy graveyards, all that good 16-bit atmosphere. And the music? Perfectly unsettling. But the real kicker is the difficulty. You’ll lose lives to bottomless pits, surprise enemies, and that one stupid red demon that respawns forever. Oh, and your armor flies off when you get hit, leaving you in heart-pounding underwear mode. Classic Capcom.

If you’re into retro games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a gem. Just don’t throw your controller.
