Super Game Boy 2 was Japan’s upgraded version of the SNES cartridge that let you play Game Boy games on your TV—and honestly, it’s way cooler than the first one. The original already felt like magic, but this one added little touches like actual multiplayer (if you had the link cable, which, let’s be real, most of us didn’t). Plus, more borders to customize your screen, because nothing said "I’m serious about Pokémon" like slapping a Pikachu frame around your grainy Game Boy graphics.
It’s one of those things that makes you wish Nintendo had just released it worldwide. The timing was weird though—dropping in 1998 when the Game Boy Color was right around the corner. Still, if you ever stumble across one, it’s a neat piece of hardware history.
