Super Formation Soccer on SNES is one of those mid-90s soccer games that somehow nails the chaotic energy of the sport without drowning you in realism. The controls are simple—pass, shoot, slide tackle—but matches get surprisingly intense. I love how the ball physics feel just unpredictable enough; sometimes a weak clearance turns into an accidental lob over the keeper.

It’s not FIFA, and that’s kind of the point. The pixelated players have this weird charm, especially when they celebrate goals with those stiff little animations. And yeah, the commentary is all in Japanese, but the announcer’s random bursts of excitement after a shot on goal never get old. If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule from 1995.
