Super Formation Soccer II is one of those classic SNES sports games that somehow nails the simplicity of old-school soccer while still feeling surprisingly deep. The Japanese version has this weird charm—the menus are all in Japanese, but you can kinda guess your way through team selection. The controls are tight, and the pixelated players have just enough personality to make you care when your striker botches an easy goal.
Matches are fast-paced, and the AI isn’t a pushover, especially on higher difficulties. There’s something satisfying about the way the ball physics work—it’s arcade-y but not totally unrealistic. If you’ve ever played early FIFA or ISS games, this feels like their scrappier, more chaotic cousin.
Best part? No microtransactions, no season passes—just pick a team and play. It’s a solid time capsule of 90s soccer games.
