Super Dunk Star is one of those weird, Japan-only SNES sports games that somehow feels more arcade-y than actual arcade basketball games. You pick from these oddly exaggerated teams—like, one squad is just a bunch of samurai for some reason—and the controls are simple but kinda slippery. The dunks are ridiculously over-the-top, with players flipping through the air like it's NBA Jam on steroids.
It's got that early '90s charm where the crowd sprites barely move and the announcer yells in Japanese the whole time. Not exactly a deep sim, but perfect for quick two-player matches where you just want to see how many backflips your guy can do before botching the layup. Definitely a hidden oddity if you're into retro sports games.
