Man, Super Dunk Star on SNES is one of those games that just feels right the second you pick up the controller. The pixelated courts, the squeaky sneaker sounds—it’s pure 90s arcade basketball. You’ll start with a quick pick-up game, and within seconds you’re pulling off ridiculous dunks that make the crowd go wild (or groaning when you brick a wide-open three).
The AI isn’t a pushover, either. They’ll steal the ball if you get lazy with passes, and good luck driving the lane against some of the beefier defenders. Two-player mode is where it really shines, though—nothing beats trash-talking your friend after swatting their last-second shot into the stands.
It’s not the deepest sports sim, but who cares? The controls are tight, the games are fast, and that dunk animation where your guy hangs on the rim for a second never gets old. If you’ve got an SNES and even a passing interest in basketball, this one’s a no-brainer.
