Super Dogfight (or TurnAndBurn if you're playing the US version) is one of those SNES games that makes you wonder how they crammed so much into a cartridge. You're thrown right into the cockpit—no long tutorials, just a quick scramble to figure out which button fires missiles versus machine guns (hint: you'll mash both).
The planes handle heavier than you'd expect, like they're actually fighting against the wind instead of gliding on rails. First time I played, I overshot every turn and crashed into the ocean twice before realizing you gotta plan your moves ahead. The dogfights get intense fast—enemy pilots actually dodge and weave instead of flying in predictable loops.
Weirdly satisfying detail: your plane's shadow shrinks as you gain altitude. Little things like that make it feel less like a 16-bit game and more like someone's passion project. If you ever wanted Top Gun on SNES but with less Kenny Loggins and more pixelated explosions, this is it.
