About Super Copa
Super Copa came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by Sculptured Software. It was part of that early wave of SNES titles, a time when developers were figuring out what the new hardware could do. This one was a soccer game trying to establish itself on the console.
You control a team of soccer players, moving them around the field to score goals against the opposing team. The main objective is to win matches, progressing through a tournament structure. The game uses an overhead perspective, and you pass the ball between your players, tackle opponents to regain possession, and take shots on goal. Two mechanics that stand out are the through-pass system for leading a teammate and the ability to perform a sliding tackle, which feels risky but effective. The pacing is quite fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially against the computer's aggressive defense. Playing it feels like a frantic scramble for control on the digital pitch.
