About Super Battletank (europe)
Super Battletank came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Absolute Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early SNES titles that tried to bring more complex simulations to a console audience, sitting alongside other military themed games of the time.
You control a single M1 Abrams tank from a first person perspective inside the cockpit. Your main job is to complete a series of missions, moving across a map screen by screen to seek out and destroy enemy targets. The signature mechanics involve managing your tank's different systems; you manually switch between your main cannon, machine gun, and missile launcher, and you have to keep an eye on your fuel and ammunition levels. The pacing is slow and deliberate, more about careful positioning and resource management than fast action. The difficulty comes from the limited intelligence you're given and the sheer number of enemy tanks and helicopters you'll encounter. It feels like a methodical, gritty process of hunting and being hunted.
