Super Battletank 2 is the third entry in Garry Kitchen's tank combat series, and honestly, it's the one that really nails the feel of controlling a massive war machine. You start off in this clunky but satisfying tank, plowing through enemy defenses with a mix of heavy cannons and missiles. The SNES does a solid job making the explosions feel weighty—every hit sends debris flying, and there's something weirdly satisfying about watching a bunker crumble after a direct hit.
It's not just mindless destruction, though. You've got to manage fuel and ammo, which adds this layer of tension when you're deep in enemy territory and running low on shells. The missions get surprisingly tactical—sometimes you're better off sneaking past patrols instead of going in guns blazing. I remember getting stuck on one night mission where I kept getting ambushed until I figured out how to use the terrain for cover.
If you're into old-school military sims with a bit of arcade action, this one holds up way better than you'd expect. Just don't forget to watch your fuel gauge.
