Super Batter Up is one of those SNES baseball games that nails the arcade feel—no complicated stats, just pick a team and start swinging. The pitching mechanic’s simple but sneaky; you’ve got to time your hits just right or you’ll pop a weak fly ball straight to the outfield. I remember grinding for homers with the power swing until I realized contact hits were way more reliable early on.
The fielding’s a little janky (good luck catching line drives), but that almost adds to the charm. And the crowd noise? Pure 16-bit hype when you crush one into the stands. It’s not the deepest baseball sim, but for quick innings between friends or beating your own high score, it holds up better than you’d expect. Just don’t blame me when you keep playing “one more game” at 2 AM.
